Immunisation Debate
Student Name: Sandee  Lippiatt

Against Immunisation

  • The body’s natural immune system may be compared to an old medieval castle with its series of defenses; first, there is the outer moat, then the outer castle walls, then the inner defenses.
  • The outer moat consisting of skin, tonsils, lymphatic patches in the small intestines and other lymph nodes.

  • The outer castle walls consisting of antimicrobial proteins found in the blood and interstitial fluids such as interferons, which produce antiviral proteins that interfere with viral replication, including Rubella (NCNM News, Vol. 2, No. 1, December, 1980); the complement system, which enhance immune reactions; and transferrins, which inhibit the growth of bacteria. Natural killer cells and phagocytes may also attack the microbes.

  • The inner defenses consist of antibodies, antigens and T and B cells
  • When considering the extreme efficiency of other processes in the human body, it may be that small innoculum of virus or infectious material which break through the outer defences of the body that is sufficient enough to produce immunity in the healthy person. (Harold E Buttrum M.D. & J.C. Hoffman, Natural Immunity in Contrast to Vaccines, p54, Health & Healing, April – June, 1983)

  • With vaccines, the system is challenged with massive amounts of concentrated antigens injected directly into the body, avoiding all natural defences, or with rapid penetration from the intestines into the blood stream as in the Sabin polio vaccine. This, according to increased scientific evidence, can only have an unwanted effect on the immune system. (Harold E Buttrum M.D. & J.C. Hoffman, Natural Immunity in Contrast to Vaccines, p54, Health & Healing, April – June, 1983)

  • Before current vaccine programs, the ‘usual childhood diseases’ were in most instances scattered at random throughout childhood, leaving little impact on the healthy child. Currently, complete vaccination is during the first two years of life. Shouldn’t this be obvious that this is the period of development of the young immune system and one of extreme vulnerability and susceptibility? (Harold E Buttrum M.D. & J.C. Hoffman, Natural Immunity in Contrast to Vaccines, p54, Health & Healing, April – June, 1983)

  • Babies are born with an undeveloped immune system by which nature compensates by providing a rich source of antibodies from the mother’s breast colostrum. When the immature immune system of the infant is forced to cope with repeated vaccinations and formula feedings, there must be a profound effect on the immune system, with the possibility of leaving this system crippled in its ability to protect the child throughout life. (Harold E Buttrum M.D. & J.C. Hoffman, Natural Immunity in Contrast to Vaccines, p54, Health & Healing, April – June, 1983)
  • Bechamps theory suggests that we have all kinds of bacteria, disease-bearing and healthy, within and around us, and that we get sick only when the body’s resistance is low – due to poor diet, poor hygiene, overcrowding, lack of exercise or sleep, habits like smoking, drinking, emotional upset, etc. Each childhood disease can be an immunity building block, gradually strengthening the individual’s resistance to disease. (Shirley Lewis & Tracey Morgan, Australian Wellbeing No. 18, p39, 1987)

  • Another related theory, the one cell: one antibody theory, argues that the body has only got so much immunity potential, and vaccines use it all up, leaving the individual deficient in immunity. (Shirley Lewis & Tracey Morgan, Australian Wellbeing No. 18, p39, 1987)

  • The theory and practice of attenuating bacteria and injecting it into humans so the cells would produce antibodies which would then help combat a subsequent invasion by a virulent stain has three things wrong with it:
  1. The primary cause of the disease is not bacteria – otherwise all unvaccinated persons exposed in a similar way to identical bacteria would become ill. This does not happen. Disease results initially from some inability of the individual to cope with the invading bacteria. This inability may be due to placental transfer and breastfeeding, and as mentioned before, the persons state of health, nutritional status and emotional response to stress.

  2. Injection of vaccines and antigens do not always produce the same results in all individuals, leading to some nasty side-effects and even death. The ‘protection’ is usually temporary, unlike the permanent immunity resulting from a natural exposure to a virus.

  3. Repeated injections of bacteria tend to destroy the vitality of the body’s immune system on a number of levels. (G. Vithoulkas, The Science of Homeopathy, Grove Press Inc, New York, 1980.). We, as up and coming natural therapists know that damage also occurs on the inner spirit level from which an individual’s entire physical and emotional health derives.
