This elective will provide you with a direct experience of a wide variety of sitting, walking and active meditations, supported by a solid grounding in the principles of meditation. It will also show you how to combine the short "spot" meditations with a 20 minute daily sitting for maximum results.
Other methods will include; awareness of sounds and music, mantras, affirmations, visualisations, self-healing and active meditations.
The emphasis is on staying gently in the present moment through awareness of breathing and body sensations. To be present and aware in each moment increases one's enjoyment in life and by using short "spot" meditations, of a few seconds or a few minutes, regularly through the day can lead to uplifting peak experiences, where everything seems to flow more effortlessly.
"Meditation is the singular most important tool individuals can use to assist their own healing process" this is according to cancer survivor and head of the Gawler Institute, Ian Gawler.
